I'm not big on doing the call-outs, but when the question poster Mach3avelli asks a question and provides a big ol' great bunch of examples right in the question, well, just wanted to thank them for the thread, and hope it makes the sidebar (which is NOT why I'm doing this, by the way).
Thanks also to some of the stellar suggestions the hive has posted, and non sum qualis eram's description of Rossini. It's so easy to snark on people online, but it's good to thank someone when they do something nice as well. Y'all have almost always been so helpful, and I learn something new here everyday. Music is incredibly important to me - as I suspect so many of us! - so having a new playlist of music to investigate is a treat, and yet another example of why this was one of the best $5 purchases I've ever made in my life. Thanks all.
*group hug, passing of Kleenex, etc. etc.*
Please don't sidebar it until I get home from work, so that there's a prayer that the links will all still function.

I think it's pretty much a requirement that all AskMe's, especially sidebarred ones, should at least contain a question mark.

And that all MeTa's should contain at least bloodcurdling howl.

It looks less bloodcurdling on screen than it does in real life.

While we're at it can you get Mach3avelli to give me an update? He kind of left me hanging at a critical juncture in a previous Ask Me thread.

What's so great about that AskMe? Besides all the free mp3s? I mean, I'm ambivalent about whether it's a good question (not a fan of the mix tape questions but I just ignore them), but is this question only worthy of a MeTa callout (in the good sense) because he's giving away a load of music? Because that's not really what AskMe is for. Why is this one any better than the last mixtape question?

Oh, I don't know, EndsofInvention - because he highlighted what he thought was good, which helps us answer his question, and yes, sharing the links to what he liked seemed to be a nice thing to do. There are lots of good examples of AskMes, and sure, I tend to pass on the mixtape questions, too... but this one seemed interesting to look at a specific type of musical occurance across genres.

There are a lot of questionable AskMe's out there - homework related ones and 'help me settle a drunken bet' come to mind. Just thought this was another good example of the brilliance of the hive mind, is all.

I think what you're looking for are mp3 blogs, not AskMe. There are thousands of such blogs where the authors share playlists with links to mp3s for you to consume. I thought that question was vague and stupid, and flagged it accordingly. Just because it included a bunch of crap doesn't make it a good question. The fact that the asker provided three dozen examples of what he was looking for just proves how vague and generic the question was. "Help me find movies that contain scenes with trains. Here's 30 examples ..."

Well, Mach3avelli already has the mp3 blog thing covered.

How do I say goodbye to what we had?
The good times that made us laugh
Outweigh the bad.
I thought we'd get to see forever,
But forever's gone away.
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterday.
And I'll take with me the memories
To be my sunshine after the rain.
It's so hard to say goodbye to yesterdaaaa-a-a-a-eee-eee-ew-woo-woo!
